Myth #4: "Vomiting Hairballs Is Normal For Cats"

Hairballs Are Symptoms Of GI Disease

The Truth:

Hairballs Are Symptoms Of GI Disease

“Just a Hairball” is perhaps the most prevalent and harmful myth out there about cat health. Hairballs are in fact the most common first symptom of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, a serious pre-cancerous illness epidemic in domestic cats. Recognizing that hairball vomiting is a disease symptom gives us a chance to stop GI cancer before it starts.

When cats groom, a healthy gut passes ingested fur all the way through. Diseased intestines have impaired motility, causing hair to accumulate in the stomach. Hairball vomittinng is often seen years before any other symptoms. Early recognition is your best chance for effective intervention!
